About Camden Public School

Camden Public School is a Coeducation primary school, serving years K-6. CPS prides itself on active community participation within all facets of school life. There is a strong partnership between students, parents and staff. A large percentage of parent volunteers and community members regularly participate in school-based activities. 

The Requirement

To enhance Camden Public School's seating spaces, incorporating bright colours and curved shapes, ensuring a vibrant and welcoming area for students to unwind.

The Challenges

• Durability: Bright colours might fade quicker under direct sunlight, so the school needed to choose materials that retain their vibrancy over time.
• Safety: Some curved furniture designs could potentially tip or wobble if not properly balanced, posing safety concerns. Ensuring the stability of such designs was crucial.
• Maintenance: Bright-coloured furniture may show stains and wear more prominently than neutral tones, so the maintenance was an important consideration.
• Space Utilisation: Curved furniture might not always fit neatly into specific spaces, potentially leading to inefficient space use or limiting seating capacity.
• Inclusivity and Accessibility: Ensuring that the furniture is usable and accessible for all students, including those with disabilities.

The Solution

Camden Public School placed a lot of importance on visualising how different furniture would fit into their space. They utilised Astra Street Furniture's 3D Rendering service to juxtapose the area's appearance before and after the new furniture was placed.

After evaluating the challenges, requirements, and visualising how the furniture would look,  Camden Public School selected the Milan Curved Bench and Spencer 4 Sided in bright colours (blue & red & green).

The Milan Curved Bench offers the following features:

• Durability: The Milan Curved Bench is made with a heavy-duty steel frame that's zinc-plated and powder-coated. This ensures the bench's resistance to rust and harsh weather conditions, ensuring longevity and a lasting vibrant colour even when exposed to direct sunlight.
• Safety: The bench's design is carefully considered, crafted with a sturdy steel frame and balance in its curvature. This guarantees stability, ensuring that there's no risk of the bench tipping or wobbling, thus maintaining student safety.
• Maintenance: The bench has a smooth finish with Dulux powder coat, available in various colours including bright shades. This type of finish is easier to clean and is designed to minimise the appearance of stains and wear.
• Space Utilisation: The Milan Curved Bench's 90-degree design allows two benches to form a semi-circle or four to create a full circle. This flexibility in configuration allows schools to maximise space, fitting neatly around trees, posts, or pillars without limiting seating capacity.

The Spencer 4 Sided setting offers the following features:

• Design & Functionality: The circular 4-sided picnic setting offers ample seating, making it ideal for creating comfortable outdoor spaces for students and fostering collaboration.
