The University of Wollongong student housing now boasts the most secure bike storage facilities available thanks to the installation of AS Urban bike racks in the basement bike storage rooms. These bike parking facilities meet the requirements os AS 2890.3 for Class 2 security level which, as opposed to individual bike lockers, is the most secure multi bike rack parking available!
Australian Standards AS2890.3 specifies Class 2 bicycle storage rooms and bike storage compounds as
the most secure bike rack parking available. This Class 2 classification is
defined by the following criteria:
- Fully enclosed compound
- Protected from the weather
- Accessed via an attendant or security key/swipe card system
- Class 3 bike racks are provided within the compound for secure locking of each individual bike. Class 3 bike racks are classified as having the following features:

Lock both the frame and the wheel with cyclist’s own lock.
o
Support the bike frame and minimise accidental damage to the
bike.
