Maintenance of Outdoor Furniture Is Important

Have you recently purchased any outdoor furniture pieces and not sure how to keep them looking as new as when you purchased them?

It is important that the appropriate cleaning measures are completed regularly when maintaining the quality of outdoor furniture products.

Nothing lasts forever but if you are incorporating the below practices, you are going to get the greatest quality for the longest time of your seats, benches, tables, and picnic settings.

General cleaning on a regular basis is essential for all outdoor furniture:

  • Inspect daily and clean all furniture surfaces at least once a week with slightly soapy warm water and a soft cleaning cloth (Food scraps and liquids left on the surface can be harmful to any surface if not regularly cleaned)
  • DO NOT use chemicals or abrasive compounds to clean surfaces as this may damage the surface coating
  • Timber Leaching – refer to separate instructions HERE

General cleaning practices apply to Timber Slats, Recycled Composite Enviroslat, Powder Coated Finish, Anodised Aluminium, Mill Finished Aluminium, Stainless Steel, and Hot Dipped Galvanised Finish materials.

General Handling:

  • Do not lift furniture by only the slats, as this may pull slats from the frame. Grab onto the frame when transporting, not the end of the slats.

Merbau & Mixed Blonde (Hardwood) Slats:

  • When refurbishing timber slats, it is recommended to use the timber protection oil CUTEK CD50, as seen in the above image. The cutek oil will penetrate and nourish the timber for long term protection from moisture, reduces cupping, warping, and splitting.
  • It is recommended to re-finish the slats every 12-months to preserve the Merbau and keep it looking new!
